Rail Guidance
Rail guidance mechanically controls a truck's travel path within a storage aisle. Guidance is achieved by truck-mounted polyurethane guide rollers rolling against rigid steel guide rails. Rail guidance is available on trucks that store and retrieve unit loads at right angles to the direction of travel, and on orderpicket trucks.
Guide rail is typically installed on both sides of a storage aisle. The steel guide rails are securely lagged to the floor for most pallet rack systems or fastened to the rack structure for most cantilever racks. Smooth vehicle entry and exit from the guided aisle is assisted by mechanical aisle entries.
